British landscape theorist Jay Appleton said that people instinctively enjoy views of a wider landscape while feeling safely ‘hidden’ and ‘in control’ of their immediate surroundings. This is called the rabbit hole theory, were people instinctively try to concur nature and re-create paradise. A place where they can feel safe and secure.
